Social Awareness Series Production of
Signs of Sara
by Jim Gradillas

The play follows Sara, an average teenager
with absent parents, a brother with mental
disabilities and a spoiled little sister. Sara
runs the household and escapes from the
world by talking to her "image" in the mirror,
writing poetry and listening to music but she
can't seem to find a connection with friends,
family and life. She falls into a "pit of
depression," when she enters a world where
there are people going through the same
sadness but for different reasons. This is
Sara's journey into the world of depression
and trying to find a way out.

Teen Depression is an issue that touches
the lives of many.  Sara's story allowed us to
bring this dark world into the light increasing
awareness and opening the lines of
communication.
