Lori Solak
Managing Artistic Director,
Connecticut Family Theatre, Inc.
Ms. Solak has almost two decades of experience in the
theatrical arts. Primarily a director/choreographer, Ms. Solak
also wears several other hats including scenic designer and
artist, costume designer, prop artist and playwright. When
not working on the artistic side of theatre she can be found
in the office at CFT running the company!
Ms. Solak spent several years as a director, scenic artist,
costumer and lead instructor at Hartford Children's Theatre.
In 2000 she developed the Discovery Company Players (a
troupe of actors ages 6-8 who performed in two full musicals
a year). The Players quickly became HCT's most popular
program.

In 2005 Ms. Solak was offered the position of Director for Park Road Playhouse's "Performing Arts For YOUth".
The program was so well received that it outgrew the playhouse in less than one year. It was time to branch out on her
own and create a new theatre company. In November, 2006, with the help and support from a group of very special
people, Connecticut Family Theatre, Inc. was born!
Ms. Solak also has quite a following. Several of her students have been working with her for over 10 years. Some
have come back as adults to join the staff. Many of her students have also gone on to work on Broadway, in Film and
TV commercials. It is her belief that, whether students choose to pursue a career in theatre or not, they will walk away
with skills that will last a lifetime!
CFT's Spring production of Once Upon A Mattress marked Ms. Solak's 75th production! Some favorite directorial
memories include, A Pirate's Life For Me, Disney's Beauty and The Beast, Seussical, Alice In Wonderland, Cinderella,
Honk!, Dear Edwina and, of course, Perfect Beauty (book by Lori Solak).
